Leland, NC – Forty volunteers from Leland’s Crosswinds Church landscaped the entrance to the Charter Day School campus and pressure washed the school’s sidewalks. Crosswinds Church generously provided new plants to beautify the campus and planted apple trees. Church members also purchased 150 Port City Java gift cards for all Charter Day School staff members.
Scott Hennis, the Community Pastor at Crosswinds Church, commented, “Many of the families who attend Crosswinds Church have or have had students attend Charter Day School. We also have a few teachers and school staff. My wife recently went from being head third grade teacher to head on-line teacher. We are thankful for the amazing work of Charter Day School and want to support our great local school!” He continued, “Our hope is something simple like brighter colors at the entrance and cleaner concrete will give the staff a moment of pleasure during these chaotic times. Teachers and school staff are carrying such a heavy burden right now. If we can help at all, we are happy to do so!”
Laurie Benton, Headmaster of Charter Day School, exclaimed, “We are beyond grateful to the wonderful community at Crosswinds Church! Our campus entrance looks wonderful and we love the apple trees! We truly appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedules to help improve our campus.”
Crosswinds Church members are currently planning a return trip to Charter Day School to finish their pressure washing project.
